The English Language department was created in 2008 upon an initiative of M.S. Narikbayev. In 2014 -2015, the department became a part of the General Education School.

The number of instructors is 16, including 1 foreign instructor-Grady Vaughan. The programs of language preparation have been designed for students to achieve at least B2 Level, which enables them to successfully master undergraduate programs of the Higher School of Economics and the Higher School of Law. Instructors of our department annually undertake attestation, which is necessary for their professional and creative development.

Instructors of the English Language department have undertaken an internship within the “Bolashak” presidential scholarship program. Among them are also graduates of Nazarbayev University and foreign universities such as University of Leicester, Newcastle University, and Mississippi Valley State University. On top of that, the department works within the “Erasmus Plus” program.
In 2017 the department opened the Book.Tea.Talk drama club for current students of M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University, the purpose of which is to encourage students to read modern and classic literature and stage a play in English.

Moreover, our instructors along with the GES Language Centre provide English courses for current students and also prepare instructors as well as students of M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University for the IELTS examination.
