On March 29, 2016 the city Olympiad on English language among students of non-linguistic specialties was held in Eurasian National University named after L. N. Gumilev. The purpose of the Olympiad was to identify the significant educational achievements of students in mastering necessary skills of English for professional and educational purposes. All students of non-linguistic Universities of Astana were invited to participate in this competition. Four students of KAZGUU University took part in the given Olympiad, they are: Akanova Nazerke, group M-101 (K), Artenova Madina, group of IL-204, Sapasheva Asel, group IL-203, Shayakhmetov Arman, group IL-302. The team was headed by associate Professor of the English language department Aray Rakisheva. Olympiad had two rounds: the first round included tasks on such types of speech activity as reading, writing, listening, and speaking in the second round. After two rounds our students took the 1st places and the 2nd places. They are: Sapasheva Asel and Artenova Madina. The winner of the 1st place e was presented with certificate to pass 2 week language program in UK.
