School of Liberal Arts (hereinafter referred to as SLA) is interested in enrolling ap-plicants with high academic performance who in the future will be able to achieve high results in their professional field. In this regard, the School developed the rules for ad-mission of applicants on the basis of the “Standard rules for admission to study in edu-cational institutions that implement academic programmes of higher and postgraduate education” (order of the MES RK dated 10/31/2018 No. 600). The applicant must fol-low the SLA rules and requirements within the chosen programme.
Students are admitted to the University by the admission commission.
The applicant must provide the following package of necessary documents to the admission commission of M. NarikbayevKAZGUU University*:
• a completed standard application form;
• the original ofa school-leaving certificate, a certificate on completion of technical and vocational (primary vocational or secondary vocational) education, diploma of post-secondary or higher education with appendix;
• 6 photos in size 3×4;
• 086-U medical certificate form (an attached x-ray photograph);
• ENT or KT certificate;
• certificate of educational grant award (if any);
• KEPT certificate;
• protocol on the admission to School of Liberal Arts , Higher School of Economics, and KAZGUU Law Schoolby theadmissioncommission (if any);
• the original and a copy of the identity card, the original and a copy of the birth certificate (if the applicant is under 18);
• a copy of the registration certificate or military ID (for males enrolling to full-time edu-cation).
• a copy of IELTS / TOEFL / FCE / CAE certificates, if any.
* Those applicants who have not collected a full package of documents on time cannot be enrolled until official documents are submitted.
Uponadmission to SLA programmes,it is necessary to fulfill the general university admission requirements as well as requirements for language competencies of SLA educational programmes (Table4.1).

For admission to M.Narikbayev KAZGUU University educational programmes, one of the pre requisites is KAZGUU English Placement Test and Kazakh / Russian Language-Placement Test.
Applicants enrolling in Kazakh language taught programmes take Russian language placement test;applicants enrolling in Russian language taught programmes take Kazakh language placement test.
Applicantsenrolling in English language taught programmes takeeither Kazakh or Russian language placement test upon their wish.

In case of insufficient level of English language proficiency, it is recommended to take paid preparatory courses, which are held on the basis of Language Learning and Certification Centre (https://courses.kazguu.kz/vgh).
The applicant has the right to retake KEPT an unlimited number of times on a paid basis according to the price register.
If the applicant scores the number of points which are below the required level according to KEPT, the decision on admission is made on the basis of a joint decision made by AQAC of the School of Liberal Arts.However, thestudentis given the oppor-tunity to register for such disciplines as “Contemporary History of Kazakhstan”, “Ka-zakh / Russian”, and “Physical Education”. Registration for other disciplines requiringa-certain level of foreign language competence is allowed on the basis of a joint decision made by the School of Liberal Arts. Monitoring of the decision implementation lies with the advisor of a relevant educational programme.
Registration for 1st year academic disciplines and the formation of an individual schedule is impossible without taking KEPT and entrance examin Kazakh / Russian, except the applicant shaving IELTS/TOEFL IBT/PBT /FCE/CAE/РЕТ certificates.
The applicant must provide a copy and the original (for verification) of the IELTS / TOEFL IBT / PBT / FCE / CAE / KET / PET certificate to the admission commission before issuing the order for enrollment. The authenticity of the certificate is verified by English Language Department on the official websites https://ielts.ucles.org.uk/ and cambridgeenglish.org/verifiers.
Exempted from taking KAZGUU English Placement Test are:
• applicants who have submitted a proof of English language proficiency in accordance with the requirements of higher schools (Academic IELTS or TOEFL IBT / PBT, FCE / CAE / KET / PET equivalentswith the level in accordance with Table 4.1). At the same time, the admission commission considers only those FCE / CAE / KET / PET certificates which are received by candidates no later than 3 years before entering KAZGUU University.Academic IELTS and TOEFL certificates should be valid as of August 25, 2020 (inclusive).
• graduates of schools who scored 40 points and higher (excluding those enrolling in Translation Studies and Applied Linguistics Programmes (3 and 4 years) who need to score 60 and 65 points, respectively) at the olympiads held by the HSE Center for Cooperation and Recruiting or SLA English Language Department or KAZGUU University Marketing Department in 2019-2020 academic year (according to the HSE protocol and SLA AQAC protocol);
• Nazarbayev Intellectual Schoolscurrent year graduates take KEPT and Kazakh / Russian languages placement tests free of charge.
• applicants who have provided a DuoLingo language certificate, in case of having the required level for higher schools indicated in Table 4.1. DuoLingo English Test equivalentsaccording to CEFR are given below(https://englishtest.duolingo.com/scores):

Academic Credit Transfer for Admission
Inaccordancewiththe decision of Academic Quality Assurance Committee, academic credit transfer can be carried out for:
– graduates of International Baccalau reate and Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools;
– students having vocational education in relevant educational programmes;
– participants of the Provisional Programme “Bachelor Degree for High School Students” who have completed the courses of under graduate educational programme, prior to admission;
– participants (non-degree) who have completed the courses of under graduate or post graduate educational programme, prior to admission;
– students having IELTS/TOEFL IBT/PBT /FCE/CAE/РЕТ certificates of the corre-sponding level.
Applicants / students having IELTS/TOEFL IBT/PBT/FCE/CAE/РЕТ ceriticates of the corresponding level may have their English courses transferred with 100 % grade (А, “excellent”, 4.0) according to the following tables:

Transfer of the corresponding discipline on the basis of the Cambridge CAE/FCE/PET certificate is carried out upon the decision of SLA Academic Quality Assurance Committee with 100% grade (А, “excellent”, 4.0):
1) if Cambridge CAE/FCE/PET certificate is provided before admission or prior to registration deadline;
2) if Cambridge CAE/FCE/PET certificate is provided after completing the course, but prior to the end of the following academic period. Inthiscase, upon the decision of AQAC correpsonding amendments are made in the transcript.
3) for students awarded an educational grant change in the grade according to Clause 2 will not affect the allowance for the previous academic period.
4) change in GPA comes into force since the grade is amended in the transcript.
The transfer for graduates of International Baccalaureate and Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools is carriedout on the basis of a school-leaving certificate in the following disciplines (Table 4.8), the decision is made by Academic Quality Assurance Committee.

Up on the consideration of Academic Quality Assurance Committee transfer of academic credits can be carried out for:
– master degree students who have completed post graduate programme courses while pursuing a bachelor degree;
– participants (non-degree) who have completed undergraduate or postgraduate programme courses while enrolling in undergraduate or postgraduate programmes.
Upon admission to M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University, international students should carefully examine the rules of study and living conditions at the university.
Application Deadlines
Enrollment of international citizens to education programmes is carried out on the basis of the applicant’s application form and the results of entrance examinations con-ducted by the University Admission Commission.
Students’ applications are screened, where the main criteria are GPA level and language proficiency. Students must contact the admission commission admis-sion@kazguu.kz before the application deadline to receive information on the upcom-ing interview and the number of courses and credits.
International students who seek to enroll in undergraduate programmes should complete the Application form within the following period:
For citizens of countries:
• with a visa regime until July 30 of the current year;
• with a visa-free regime until August 15 of the current year.
English Language Requirements
The level of English should correspond to the level of language proficien-cy in accordance with the Common European Framework Language System indicated in Table4.1.
List of Documents
Prior to interview, it is necessary to provide transcripts (a copy of the original transcripts and their translation), a motivation letter (no more than 500 words).
After the interview, the following documents must be provided:
• acopy of the passport;
•the original ofa school-leaving certificate, a certificate on completion of technical and vocational (primary vocational or secondary vocational) education, diploma of post-secondary or higher education with appendix;
• documents submitted in a foreign language must have a notarized translation into Kazakh or Russian, a copy of the birth certificate and the mandatory presence of one of the parents (if the applicant is under 18 years old and is in Kazakhstan);
• certificate of no criminal record.

• 086-U medical certificate form;
• protocol of the decision of the commission.
The applicant can provide copies of documents online by sending them to the Ad-mission Commission email: admission@kazguu.kz , while the applicant agrees to provide the original documents upon enrollment to the Admission Commission.
Documents on education issued by foreign educational organizations go through the nostrification procedure in the manner prescribed by law after the enrollment dur-ing the first semester.
The applicant receives a confirmation of the decision of the commission, instruc-tions for obtaining a visa, the AIS Platonus login and information on obtaining medical insurance.
Visa Information
For the timely receipt of a student visa, the applicant is recommended to contact the coordinator of the education programme.
The manager of the Admission Commission sends the student an official letter of invitation from M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University and visa support number for apply-ing for a visa at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in his/her country.
When an applicant is located outside the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it is possible to sign an agreement in his/her country and send the signed agreement by mail to the Admission Commission for further procedures (expenses for mail ser-vices are covered by applicants). It is also possible to sign the contract online in elec-tronic form.
After obtaining a visa, an applicant must arrive in the country no later than Au-gust 24 of the current year and pay the tuition fee for 1st semester. Moreover, before arrival, the applicant must send the scanned version of the ticket and visa in the pass-port to the manager of the Admission Commission.
During the day (or the next day) of arrival in the country, the applicant must reg-ister in the journal of the lawyer of the PSC and the migration service.
Proof of Finance
Access to registration for disciplines is opened to a student only after payment of tuition.
Medical Care and Health Insurance
All students enrolled and studying at M.Narikbayev KAZGUU University must provide a completed medical history form. All international students need to purchase an insurance policy.
