The program is presented in two forms of training, full-time education (4 years) and shortened (3 years).

Applicants after college (on the basis of secondary vocational education) have the opportunity to complete their studies in 3 years having mastered 192 academic credits.

Specilization (minor):
– has entry requirements: GPA, prerequisites, etc.;
– consists of several disciplines studied sequentially;

– disciplines can be studied gradually in different academic periods (“cumulative system”), but sequentially to obtain a certificate;
– selected independently by a student from the academic catalog of the school;
– can be studied within the education programme (credits for minor disciplines are included in the 240 academic credits of the main programme) and / or in addition to the main education programme;
– in case of meeting all the requirements by the completion of the course, the student is awarded a certificate of programme completion.
Within the framework of the main education programme, the study of disciplines of no more than two minors is allowed. If the student wants to master more than two minors, he or she appeals to the Academic Quality Assurance Committee.
In case of failure to comply with the requirements upon the completion of the certification programme, a certificate is awarded.
Training in certification programmes lasts no more than 5 years.
Credits for disciplines studied within the certification programme can be transferred within the curriculum of educational programmes of KAZGUU University within 5 years from the date of registration for the course. At the end of the specified period, the final grade for this discipline is considered invalid, and the student must study it again in order to receive credits for this course.
CERTIFICATION PROGRAMME “MEDIA LINGUISTICS”
This certification programme aims to study the functioning of the language in media. Students will learn to determine the status of the media language in terms of functional stylistics. This course covers methods for describing media texts of various types, the influence of socio cultural factors and language techniques on people’s minds. Students will become acquainted with a system of parameters that help describe and classify all types of media texts in terms of their production, distribution, verbal and media characteristics. In addition, students will be able to develop the basic skills necessary for working in the field of media: editing, analysis, writing articles and reviewing events.

The Minor in Domestic and Inbound Tourism offers a student an opportunity to understand the benefits of inbound and domestic tourism and make an informed decision on how to best enter this market successfully. Especially now, when the global situation with coronavirus has been revealed that people will mainly travel inside of their countries – Kazakhstan has great chances to utilise its significant recreational resources for development of its own domestic tourism. Same time, it is essential to learn dealing with the demands of international visitors as it requires specialist knowledge, cultural understanding and investment. Thus, the content of the Minor will help students to learn how to best market travel experiences to the inbound and domestic traveler.

CERTIFICATION PROGRAMME “TOUR GUIDING”
The certification programme “Tour Guiding” will enable students to be more effective in building up their career in the hospitality industry.
The purpose of the programme is to acquire practical skills in planning and organizing city and thematic tours of any format, to master the principles of tour guides’ work, including etiquette, roles and responsibilities; to understand the behavior of tourists, to learn how to manage unexpected situations, to master the principles of interpreting tourist attractions, to gain significant knowledge of culture (traditions and customs), geography, history, architecture, economic and political processes in Kazakhstan. Students will also be able to take direct part in excursions to the tourist attractions of Nur-Sultan, where they will be revealed all the secrets of interesting excursions.
Significant content of the course will focus on the study of various tourist destinations and Kazakhstan’s natural, and cultural and historical sites (tangible and intangible) included in the UNESCO world heritage list. Owing to real practical workshops and master classes from the leaders of the tourism and hospitality industry of Kazakhstan (from specialists of the National Museum, professionals of Kazakh Tourism JSC and representatives of UNESCO), students will learn how to apply their skills during sightseeing tours.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
• plan and organize a tour and tourist route that meets the needs of tourists;
• define the scope of responsibilities, roles of guides, rules and regulations, and the tour ethics to be followed by both tour guides and tourists;
• apply tactics and determine the main strategy when faced with unexpected situations; manage the behavior of tourists and the tourist group;
• correctly interpret Kazakh art and culture, give an overview of Kazakh history and describe various tourist destinations in Nur-Sultan, Akmola region and Kazakhstan;
• provide accurate information about the main tourist attractions of Nur-Sultan and Akmola region;
• understand, identify, and evaluate the various meanings, uses, and values of heritage sites, and know the material and non-material cultural heritage of Kazakhstan;
• use public presentation and communication skills in an intercultural environment.

CERTIFICATION PROGRAMME“TOUR GUIDING”
The certification programme “Tour Guiding” will enable students to be more effective in building up their career in the hospitality industry.
The purpose of the programme is to acquire practical skills in planning and organizing city and thematic tours of any format, to master the principles of tour guides’ work, including etiquette, roles and responsibilities; to understand the behavior of tourists, to learn how to manage unexpected situations, to master the principles of interpreting tourist attractions, to gain significant knowledge of culture (traditions and customs), geography, history, architecture, economic and political processes in Kazakhstan. Students will also be able to take direct part in excursions to the tourist attractions of Nur-Sultan, where they will be revealed all the secrets of interesting excursions.
Significant content of the course will focus on the study of various tourist destinations and Kazakhstan’s natural, and cultural and historical sites (tangible and intangible) included in the UNESCO world heritage list. Owing to real practical workshops and master classes from the leaders of the tourism and hospitality industry of Kazakhstan (from specialists of the National Museum, professionals of Kazakh Tourism JSC and representatives of UNESCO), students will learn how to apply their skills during sightseeing tours.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
• plan and organize a tour and tourist route that meets the needs of tourists;
• define the scope of responsibilities, roles of guides, rules and regulations, and the tour ethics to be followed by both tour guides and tourists;
• apply tactics and determine the main strategy when faced with unexpected situations; manage the behavior of tourists and the tourist group;
• correctly interpret Kazakh art and culture, give an overview of Kazakh history and describe various tourist destinations in Nur-Sultan, Akmola region and Kazakhstan;
• provide accurate information about the main tourist attractions of Nur-Sultan and Akmola region;
• understand, identify, and evaluate the various meanings, uses, and values of heritage sites, and know the material and non-material cultural heritage of Kazakhstan;

The Certified Internship Programme “HILTON-ASTANA” is designed to help students to practice operational skills in hospitality industry.

The program is aimed at training and preparing specialists with developed professional written, consecutive and simultaneous translation skills, deep knowledge of the theory and practice of the first and second foreign languages in various language environments, who are proficient in the use of automated translation tools and translation memory (CAT tools).
The undergraduate programme in Translation Studies is based on international standards and focuses on local resources. In the development of the program, the requirements of the national standard of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the requirements of the modern market and employers were taken into account.
A graduate of the Translation Studies program is expected to possess the following knowledge and skills necessary for a success ful professional career in the field of written, consecutive and simultaneous translation:

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM
The “Psychology” program is aimed at training highly qualified and competitive specialists in the field of organizational, social, cognitive, and counseling psychology, who possess modern methods of psychological research, diagnosis, and influence on individuals and groups as a whole.
Graduates of the program will be able to conduct research in the field of psychology as well as practical work in providing psychological assistance. Students can also pursue additional specialization (minor) in “Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)”, “Brand analysis”, “HR analytics”, and “Legal psychology”.
COURSE PROGRAM
The “Psychology” program has been developed taking into account the best global and domestic practices, and meets the demands of the modern labor market for psychology professionals.
The program has undergone accreditation through the Business Council of the SLA, which includes employers and experts in the field of practical psychology. The program represents a full-time course, lasting 4 years, and an accelerated course, lasting 3 years, in accordance with the credit technology requirements for preparing bachelors.
To complete the 4-year program, students are required to earn 248 academic credits.
This form of education is intended for those entering with a secondary education background. For those entering after completing college (based on secondary vocational education), there is an option to complete the program in 3 years by earning 184 academic credits. Each student has the opportunity to outline their individual learning trajectory. Detailed information about the course content can be found in the academic catalog of the School of Liberal Arts.
Learning outcomes:
– Analyze and verify the completeness of information in the course of professional activities in conditions of uncertainty
– Evaluate the need for resources and plan their utilization when solving tasks in professional activities.
– Conduct search, selection, analysis, and processing of relevant information for solving scientific and professional tasks using modern technologies.

– Critically evaluate and reconsider accumulated experience, reflect on professional and social activities.

– Determine the need for psychological intervention, prepare and conduct psychological interventions, and measure their effectiveness.
– Provide psychological support for processes leading to the planning and conducting of psychological research.
Additional specialization
One of the advantages of the educational program is the opportunity to obtain an additional specialization, which will allow students to expand their employment opportunities.
The School of Liberal Arts offers the following additional specializations (minors) for study:

Specialization (minor):
- It has entrance requirements: GPA, completion of prerequisite courses, etc;
- Consists of several disciplines studied sequentially;
- Can be offered as a separate certificate program (for different categories of trainees);
- The courses may be taken gradually over different academic periods (an “accumulative system”), but must be taken sequentially to receive the certification;
- Chosen by the student from the school’s academic catalog;
- Can be studied within the framework of an educational program (credits for minor courses are included in the 240 ECTS of the main program) and/or as an additional component to the main educational program;
After fulfilling the course completion requirements, the student receives a certificate of completion of the certification program.
Within the main educational program, studying no more than two minors is allowed. If a student wants to pursue more than two minors, they should contact the Academic Quality Committee of the SLA. Failure to meet the requirements for completion of the certification program will result in not receiving the certificate.
The duration of study for certification programs should not exceed 5 years. Credits for courses taken within the certification program can be transferred within the academic plan of the educational programs of the University of KAZGUU for up to 5 years from the moment of registration for the course. After this period, the final grade for the course is considered invalid, and the student needs to retake the course in order to receive credits for it.
CERTIFICATION PROGRAM “CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)”
The minor program is a practical-theoretical foundational course in cognitive-behavioral therapy. During the course, participants will not only acquire theoretical knowledge, mastering the methodology and basics of behavioral and cognitive psychology, elements of psychotherapy and psychological counseling, but will also gain basic practical skills from the modern arsenal of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy and the various types and methods of psychotherapy within this field.
The goal of the program is to provide professional training for competent specialists in the field of CBT, capable of effectively conducting correctional and psychological activities aimed at working with psychological disorders caused by dysfunctional patterns of thinking and behavior.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- study the theoretical basis necessary for mastering skills in the cognitive-behavioral therapy paradigm.
- develop basic CBT therapist skills in assessing a person’s behavioral characteristics using relevant methodologies based on the goal.

The minor is aimed at teaching students the fundamentals of addressing psychological issues that arise in the legal profession. The program involves practical work through the analysis of texts pertaining to medical-psychological expertise, methods of assessing criminal personality, the development of victimological prevention measures, and correctional and rehabilitation programs for individuals with delinquent behavior.
The aim of the program is to prepare a specialist who can apply psychological knowledge to address issues at the intersection of jurisprudence and psychology: implementing victimological prevention planning; identifying questions to which an expert can respond upon request of a judge, lawyer, or prosecutor; developing correctional and rehabilitation programs for individuals with deviant and delinquent behavior.
