English Language Department announces the opening of an annual university Olympiad of English language. Students of the I, II, and III courses of all specialties, with non in-depth study of English language (learners of foreign language under the standard program, students’preparationprofile is not limited) are invited to participate in the competition.The aim of the Olympiad – tomotivate students to learn English; to organize and conduct independent and objective control of skills level in various types of speech activity.

The Olympiad program

The Olympiad is held in two stages:

StageI– Lexical and grammatical test and essay writing on the proposed topic.November, 24

Stage II –  creative presentation of the project on the proposed topic.

Evaluation criteria

Lexical and grammatical test – correct answers to the questions

Essay – content of the work (introduction, problem statement,topic presentation, conclusion), consistency of presentation, vocabulary, presentation literacy.

Creative project – the presentation compliance with the topic, originality, creativity, presentation literacy, lexical content, artistry, ability to persuade, mastery of presentation skills.

Summing up the results, winners awarding

Competition commission defines winners according to the results of the Olympiad on English language. Participants who took the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded with diplomas and gifts. The winners will also receive an opportunity to participate in the republican Olympiad on languages.

Deadline for applications submission

Applications for participation in the Olympiad must be submittedup to 22 November 2016, 17.00 p.m.
